The much awaited Commonwealth Games theme song composed by Oscar winner music composer AR Rahman would be released today i.e. 28th August, 2010. It has been composed as well as sung by AR Rahman.

Group of Ministers (GoM) on the Commonwealth Games had finalized Swagatham as the theme song for the mega event on 16th August after which Rahman asked for 10 days to give final touches to the song and relase it for the public.
Erlier, CWG anthem ‘Dilli Meri Jaan' was released on 25th August 2010 by Delhi’s chief minister Sheila Dikshit. Dilli Meri Jaan is sung by Dr Palash Sen of Euphoria group and is also written by him and his sister Dahila Sen Oberoi.

AR Rahman in the press conference held on 16th August promised the fans that Swagatham is a unique number would go beyond FIFA world cup 2010 official song Waka Waka by Shakira, which raised the expectations and anxiety among the fans for Swagatham.

CHALLENGE TO RAHAMAN's LYRICS of COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2010 ANTHEM SONG
ReplyDeleteApologies to say so but it's a mixed bag of words with follwoing technical glitches-
1. Spirit of India or word India not emerging out powerfully
2. In an attempt to capture the spirit of games tons of negative phrases have been added in the lyrics eg "harna, harna, harna nahi, or sard (before suraj vo garmi..)) consult any psycologist and such words could have been replaced with what to be done rather what not to be done.
3. Playo, Jeeyou etc are just appearing to be fillers to fit into the meters as vocals are not clear
I can’t dare to challenge Rahaman on music front ya but on Lyrics of course..!...please

Trust vocals and music arrangement by a qualified composer would make this into a presentable best anthem.
