The Indian Rugby team, led by skipper Nasser Hussain, will leave today to participate in the Dubai 7s rugby tournament scheduled to be held between December 3-5.
India will compete against three other teams in their pool namely Les Bleus 7s (France), Tatarstan (Russia) and Namibia Invitational and the top two team progress to the quarterfinal stage.
The team has been undergoing through training schedule at Pune, preparing for these tournaments in the run up to the upcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
With Delhi being host for next Commonwealth Games, it has given prominence to sports like Rugby 7s in India.
The Dubai Sevens is one of the most awaited tournaments in the Rugby calendar. Coupled with our rigorous practice, the international exposure in the last two months has given the team immense confidence to play alongside and compete against the best teams in the world.
