Ahead of the Commonwealth Games here, the MCD is collecting blood samples of workers at the Commonwealth Games sites to screen them for Malaria.
"We have collected blood samples of over 23,000 workers who have come from states where Malaria is highly prevelant. The construction site may have some mosquito infestation and there is a possibility of the disease being spread," a health officer with MCD said.
As such, any workers before being allowed to join work has to give blood sample at the Malaria survillence post clinic set up at the games village near Akshar Dham temple.
"They have to give their address and blood sample before joining work so that we can screen them for the presence of any Malaria parasite," he said.
